Leave (Accrued on the Last Day of the Month)

Sick Leave

      • Full Time Staff and 12-month Faculty: 1 day (8 hours) per month is earned.
      • 10-Month Faculty: 1 day per month earned August through May (10 months)

Annual Leave

      • Full Time Staff and 12-Month Faculty:
        • 1 - 5 years - accrue 1.25 days (10 hours) per month
        • 5 - 10 years - accrue 1.5 days (12 hours) per month
        • 10+ years - accrue 1.74 days (14 hours) per month

13 Paid Holidays

Full-time benefits-eligible employees have paid time off for the following 13 holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 days), and Winter Break (5 days).

Payroll Dates

      • Monthly - Exempt Employees - the last working day of each month
      • Biweekly - Non-Exempt Employees - every other Friday
        • Non-Optional Payroll Withholdings - Retirement 6%, FICA, Medicare, Federal and State Taxes

Retirement Plans

Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS)

Benefits eligible employees are vested after 10 year of creditable service and, upon reaching eligibility for retirement, receive payments based on salary and years of service.  The current contribution rate for the college is 19.98% and the employee is 6.00%. This is a 401(a) defined benefit for non-exempt or exempt employees.

Optional Retirement Plan (ORP)

Available to benefits eligible exempt employees. The current contribution rate for the college is 9.24% and the employee is 6.00%.  The employee is immediately vested. The account balance is based upon contributions from the employee and USG, plus accumulated earnings. This is a 401(a) defined contribution through TIAA, Fidelity, or Corebridge Financial.

Employee Continuing Education and Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

This supplemental educational assistance program results in the waiver of tuition and fees when an employee attends any USG institution. After their 6-month provisional period, all full time employees can apply for TAP.

Employees who work 20 to 29 hours per week have limited benefits, 30 to 39 hours per week have full benefits with prorated sick, annual, and holiday time, and 40 hours per week (full-time) have full benefits.
